Josh Carlson
Clearfield High Senior
Motivation is a powerful tool. Josh Carlson found his motivation and used it to turn his grades around over the last few semesters. “I couldn’t make the soccer team because of my grades,” Josh says. So he decided to do something about it. For a couple of years, Josh would make the cuts when trying out for the soccer team, but then be ineligible because of his GPA. Josh said that in years past, he did not feel the motivation he feels right now. “I don’t want anything to get in my way this year.
I love soccer, and the chance at winning a car is pretty awesome too,” he says. My family is quite pleased with the change, especially my mom and dad. Josh says his dad has been giving him a hard time about winning the car so that his dad can drive it. “He’s way off,” Josh laughs. Josh is going to build cabinets this summer for his school district to earn money for an LDS mission and for College. “I want to study mechanics at Weber State,” he says.

Robert and Kathi Garff
"Education is a life-long pursuit and one of the greatest accomplishments an individual can achieve. It helps define who we are, what we believe and how we can serve our fellow man. Literacy and numeracy enable us to live within our society; the arts and humanities develop intrinsic qualities of civility, ethics and wisdom that encourage character growth; and the sciences improve the quality of our lives through research, understanding and implementation. It is our goal to enhance and enrich every child's educational experience."
