Callie White
Cottonwood High School
“Last year, I saw signs in my junior high about people winning cars,” says Callie White. She continues, “When I got to high school, I emailed the secretary to find out about it.” Callie worked very hard in her classes, and eventually got a key card for academics and attendance, and redeemed it for a free photo shoot from Faces Photography in Sandy. Academic success didn’t always come easy for her, though. She explains, “I didn’t do so well in school before. But I realized if I don’t have my education, I won’t make it anywhere. So when I came back this year, I told myself I’m gonna make it. It’s all mind control-if you believe you’ll do it, you’ll do it, and there’s nothing that will stop you.” And nothing is stopping this determined sophomore from being successful. Education is important to Callie because she wants to provide for her own kids in the future, and give them all the opportunities they can possibly have.
While she isn’t focused on her education, Callie enjoys hanging out with her friends, dancing, and cooking. She plans to start a food chain that her children can take over someday. “Keys to Success is a great opportunity for kids,” Callie comments, “because it makes them work more. I think they should give a car to everybody!”
