If you had found a master key to your high school lying on the ground, what would you have done? Some kids would have kept it as an opportunity for vandalism or to pull a prank, but Tyson E. Shepherd, a 17 year-old senior is not that kind of guy. When he found the key, he immediately turned it in to the administration and was given a key card from the Ken Garff/Chase Keys to Success program as a reward for his honesty. He said, "I just found it and turned it in." Because of his good deed, he can redeem the card for a prize on-line and is now in the running to win a car at Spanish Fork High School 's key-off next spring. He already has a truck but he said that he would love to win a diesel truck for his work at a meat processing plant.
When he's not at school or work, Tyson loves to go rifle hunting and ride horses. He prefers to hunt deer and elk, but one of his favorite hunts was when he shot a fox. Besides hunting, he lives with his family on a farm. Last August his father was deployed to Iraq with the National Guard, and should return next June. When asked about how he felt about his dad's service, he shrugged his shoulders and said very matter-of-factly, "He's my hero." He also mentioned that his mom and dad were his biggest inspiration.
