Samie Waters
Davis High School
Samie Waters may be only five foot and one half inch, but at Davis High she stands tall. Among the 2400 students, Samie was given a Key Card for her dedication to school and working hard. According to her teachers, she is a good student who does well on all of her assignments. She always gets her work in on time. With so many students to choose from, Samie said a key card nomination seemed unlikely. For Samie, receiving the card was quite exciting.
“I thought there would be others picked before me,” she said. “This is very cool.” Samie currently is enrolled in advanced placement European history. Since the class is for college credit, Samie spends at least two hours on homework every other day. But for Samie it’s not all about the credits earned. “I learn stuff in that class that I couldn’t learn anywhere else,” she said. She said it is a challenging course but the teachers take the time to get to know you. They are more understanding and work with you.
Samie likes attending Davis for many reasons. Socially, everyone has there own groups and it works well. Academically there are a lot of options for classes to prepare you for the future. Samie plans on being an architect. She likes art and design and architecture is a mixture of both, she said.

Robert and Kathi Garff
"Education is a life-long pursuit and one of the greatest accomplishments an individual can achieve. It helps define who we are, what we believe and how we can serve our fellow man. Literacy and numeracy enable us to live within our society; the arts and humanities develop intrinsic qualities of civility, ethics and wisdom that encourage character growth; and the sciences improve the quality of our lives through research, understanding and implementation. It is our goal to enhance and enrich every child's educational experience."
