Dane Jacobsen
Tooele High School
Smart in school, and he’s a good dancer. It sounds like Dane Jacobson has it all. As a sophomore at Tooele high school, Dane was given three Key Cards. He received one for his first term 4.0 GPA, and the second for having the high score on a chemistry test, He received the third for getting a 100% on another test. He is also enrolled in a college computer course. In this class, he earned a top three position with a high score on a test. “I work hard and do well in school,” he said. “It’s that important.” It’s the same story outside of school. Dane stepped onto the dance floor for the first time this year.
Now, he is on the school and county ballroom dance teams. He came as newcomer, but after a short time, he was progressing and learning a lot. “Dancing is something that comes naturally,” Dane said, “and it is a good way to socialize and learn respect.” According to Dane, his ballroom dance teacher is big on class and courtship. Dancing is a lot of fun but you learn some valuable lifelong lessons, he said. “From ballroom I have learned how to respect women and be a gentleman,” Dane said. Dane also plays wide receiver and outside line backer for the football team. He plans to graduate with his Associates Degree and attend college. He hopes to work in the medical field as an anesthesiologist.

Robert and Kathi Garff
"Education is a life-long pursuit and one of the greatest accomplishments an individual can achieve. It helps define who we are, what we believe and how we can serve our fellow man. Literacy and numeracy enable us to live within our society; the arts and humanities develop intrinsic qualities of civility, ethics and wisdom that encourage character growth; and the sciences improve the quality of our lives through research, understanding and implementation. It is our goal to enhance and enrich every child's educational experience."
